AODA Multi-Year Accessibility Policy & Plan
1.0 Purpose
This multi-year accessibility plan outlines the policies and actions that Preformed Line Products Canada Ltd. has put in place to improve opportunities for people with disabilities and replace the previous version.
2.0 Our Commitment
Preformed Line Products Canada Ltd. is committed to creating an inclusive, barrier-free environment guided by the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 and the related Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulations (the “IASR”). We are dedicated to treating all people in a way that allows them to maintain their dignity and independence, integration (except where alternative measures are necessary to meet the needs of people with disabilities) and equal opportunity. The plan covers a 5-year period and works alongside our strategic plan. It will be reviewed at the end of that period of time, or sooner if necessary to address any changes in our accessibility-related compliance obligations.
3.0 Accessible Emergency Information
Preformed Line Products Canada Ltd. is committed to providing customers and clients with publicly available emergency information in an accessible way upon request. We will also provide employees with disabilities with individualized emergency response information when necessary.
4.0 Training
Preformed Line Products Canada Ltd. will provide training to employees, volunteers and other staff members on Ontario’s accessibility laws and on the Human Rights Code as it relates to people with disabilities. Training will be provided in a way that best suits the duties of employees, volunteers, and other staff members.
Preformed Line Products Canada Ltd. has taken ongoing steps to ensure employees are provided with the training needed to meet Ontario’s accessible laws.
5.0 Information and Communications
Preformed Line Products Canada Ltd. is committed to meeting the communication needs of people with disabilities. We will consult with people with disabilities to determine their information and communication needs.
Preformed Line Products Canada Ltd. has made all websites and content on those sites conform with WCAG 2.1, Level AA as of February 2021, and will establish a plan for future compliance as required.
Preformed Line Products Canada Ltd has established a process whereby it will work with a person with a disability to receive and respond to their feedback in an accessible format. For such requests, please see the contact information at the end of this Plan. In addition, PLP Canada reviews and updates its feedback processes on an ongoing basis, in order to ensure that we are meeting our accessibility commitments and the requirements of the Act. We are also committed to providing its publicly available information in a variety of accessible formats, upon request. For such requests, please see the contact information at the end of this Plan.
6.0 Employment
Preformed Line Products (Canada) Ltd. is committed to fair and accessible employment practices.
We have taken the following steps to notify the public and staff that, when requested, Preformed Line Products (Canada) Ltd. will accommodate people with disabilities during the recruitment and assessment processes and when people are hired:
- Job postings state that PLP welcomes all applicants and does not discriminate in the recruitment process based on prohibited grounds.
- Inform candidates in job postings that accommodation is available in the recruitment, assessment and hiring process.
- Inform new employees that accommodation is available to help them perform well in their new roles.
- Modify and continuously update our emergency preparedness plans to ensure individual emergency plans are available for employees who may need accommodation in an emergency due to a disability.
- Train and assign employees who will assist employees and customers with disabilities in an emergency.
Preformed Line Products Canada Ltd. has taken the following steps to develop and put in place a process for developing individual accommodation plans and return-to-work policies for employees who have been absent due to a disability:
- Approve, implement and ensure managers are trained on our policy and procedure for developing individual accommodation plans.
- Approve, implement and ensure managers and employees are trained on return-to-work policies and procedures for employees who have been absent due to a disability.
We have taken the following steps to ensure the accessibility needs of employees with disabilities needs are considered if Preformed Line Products Canada Ltd. is using performance management, career development and redeployment processes:
- Inform employees that accommodation is available during performance management, career development and redeployment processes.
- Communicate with employees about accessibility needs and put policies and practices in place to support accommodation during performance, development and job changes.
Preformed Line Products Canada Ltd has taken the following steps to prevent and remove other accessibility barriers identified:
- While none are identified currently, we will continue to review our policies and practices regularly, communicate with employees and survey customers and take steps as needed to remove identified accessibility barriers.
7.0 Customer Service:
Preformed Line Products Canada Ltd. strives at all times to provide its goods and services in a way that respects the dignity and independence of people with disabilities. We are also committed to giving people with disabilities the same opportunity to access our goods and services and allowing them to benefit from the same services, in the same place and in a similar way as other customers. We encourage open two-way communication and request persons with disabilities communicate their need for accommodation and assistance if it is not readily apparent how that need can be met.

- Notice of Temporary Disruption
We are committed to welcoming people with disabilities who are accompanied by a service animal on the parts of our premises that are open to the public and other third parties. We will also ensure that all staff, volunteers, and others dealing with the public are properly trained in how to interact with people with disabilities who are accompanied by a service animal.
We are committed to welcoming people with disabilities who are accompanied by a support person. Any person with a disability who is accompanied by a support person will be allowed to enter Preformed Line Products Canada Ltd.’s premises with his or her support person. At no time will a person with a disability who is accompanied by a support person be prevented from having access to his or her support person while on our premises.
We do not charge fees for admission to Preformed Line Products Canada Ltd.’s premises that are open to the public.
Preformed Line Products Canada Ltd. will provide customers with notice in the event of a planned or unexpected disruption in the facilities or services usually used by people with disabilities. This notice will include information about the reason for the disruption, its anticipated duration, and a description of alternative facilities or services, if available.
The notice will be placed at all public entrances and service counters on our premises.
